Beim 25. MASALA Weltbeat Festival treffen Danças Ocultas im Dialog auf das niedersächsische Asambura Ensemble. Im gemeinsamen Austausch konzipieren sie ein transkulturelles Konzert.
Der Name des Asambura-Ensembles ist ein Anagramm des klangvollen Namens der Usambara-Berge. So wie diese Berge im Osten Tansanias den Blick in unendliche Weiten eröffnen, so steht der Name des Asambura-Ensembles dafür, über den eigenen Horizont zu blicken. Das Asambura Ensemble stellt (existentielle) Fragen und sucht nach Antworten, verbindet globale Klänge und Werke miteinander und lässt in der Verbindung etwas Gemeinsames entstehen. Das Neuhören und Neudenken sowie das Loslösen von Klangstereotypen werden durch eine abwechslungsreiche Instrumentation getragen. So überrascht die Flöte als Percussion-Instrument, E-Gitarre und Synthesizer mit psychodelischen Klangflächen, dazu ein farbenreiches Marimba- und Perkussionsspektrum. Mit Experimentierfreude entsteht ein expressiver, auch in ruhigen Passagen spannungsgeladener Sound.

At the 25th MASALA Worldbeat Festival, Danças Ocultas will meet the Asambura Ensemble from Lower Saxony in dialogue. In a joint exchange, they construct a transcultural concert.
The name of the Asambura Ensemble is an anagram of the sonorous name of the Usambara Mountains. Just as these mountains in eastern Tanzania open up a view into infinite expanses, the name of the Asambura Ensemble stands for looking beyond one’s own horizon. The Asambura Ensemble asks (existential) questions and searches for answers, connects global sounds and works with each other and lets something shared emerge in the connection. The new listening and thinking as well as the breaking away from sound stereotypes are supported by a variety of instrumentation. Thus, the flute surprises as a percussion instrument, electric guitar and synthesizer with psychedelic sound surfaces, in addition to a colourful marimba and percussion spectrum. With a joy in experimentation, an expressive sound is created that is also charged with tension in quiet passages.
